Volunteers

At the heart of the Abba’s House ministry to refugees is a team of dedicated volunteers who pour into the guests who come to our ministry home. Each weekday morning, volunteers either work with the women on various life skills or with the children on age-appropriate learning and play. Whether you can serve one day every week, or just once in a while, we need you! We invite you to join us and share in the joy of coming alongside this vulnerable population as mentors, teachers, guides, and friends.  They are human, and every human’s deepest need is to know they are loved and valued.

If you are interested in volunteering at Abba’s House, please complete the steps below, and we will be in touch with you to plug you into this diverse and beautiful mix of people we call the Abba’s House community.

  1. Volunteer Application All Volunteer Applicants please fill out this short online form to give us some basic information about you.
  2. Background Check + Motor Vehicle Report Volunteers age 18+ are responsible for completing an online Background Check/ Motor Vehicle Report, as well as paying the $27 fee for these.  Please use Chrome on your computer, not Safari and not on your phone, tablet, etc. as those things cause the payment screen to glitch and not process. Also, make sure there are no typos to your Name (should match your driver’s license), SSN & driver’s license # (including any spaces if you have a driver’s license from another state that includes spaces, dashes, etc.). If these are not an exact match the report will come back with an ALERT of no information found. You will need to submit another online background check + MVR, and pay the $27 fee again before you can be approved. Once you complete and submit your information, we will receive an email notifying us that it’s processing, as well as another email (typically within 24-48 hours) with the results. 
  3. Provide a legible copy of your driver’s license and auto insurance (auto insurance is only required for transportation volunteers). Please take a picture of these documents and email them to wendy@abbashousetexas.com.
